A chance meeting two years ago between a police officer and a man whose 14-year-old daughter was abducted in 1967 led detectives to a suspect in a murder nearly forgotten.
Even then, they were only slightly optimistic that they would find the suspect, a drifter who has spent part of the last four decades living in Florida, Arizona, Nevada and California.
